All sessions take place in the Johnson Center of George Mason University's Fairfax Campus. Most sessions take place in Dewberry Hall on the Ground Floor.

Program for the 2022 Democratizing NOVA Summit


9:30am Check-in begins in the Dewberry Lobby on the Ground Floor of the Johnson Center.

OPENING SESSIONS

10:00am-10:20am Acknowledgements from Sara Jefferson, Richard Lopez-Perez, and Domi Hannon of the GMU Native American & Indigenous Alliance and Welcome by Dr. Ben Manski, Director of Next System Studies at Mason.

10:20am-11:20am Keynote Address by Dr. Jessica Gordon Nembhard

11:30am-12:30pm Roll Call and Community Assembly


12:30pm-1:30pm Lunch Break


AFTERNOON SESSIONS

1:30pm-2:45pm Major Panel at Dewberry Hall on Community Wealth Building and the University featuring Karla Bruce (Chief Equity Officer, Fairfax County), Joe Guinan (The Democracy Collaborative), My Lan Tran (VA Asian Chamber of Commerce), and Guillermo Zamora (SEIU 32BJ), chaired by Dr. Amy Best (Center for Social Science Research).

3:00pm-4:30pm Workshops will take place in breakout rooms on the 3rd floor of the Johnson Center.

4:30pm-6:00pm We are finished with Summit sessions for the day, but invite you to head to the NAIA Spring Powwow on the lawn of Merten Hall, just a five minute walk from the Johnson Center. The Powwow begins at 2pm and continues until 6pm.
