Mental health and substance-use disorders, sociology of sport, race and ethnicity, labor, criminology, and sociology of aging.

Dr. Ann Johnson received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Hamilton College, then went on to receive her Master of Arts in Sociology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. For more than 20 years, Dr. Johnson served in clinical and leadership roles in various sectors of human services and community mental health treatment before receiving her Ph.D. in Sociology from George Mason University. She is an affiliate faculty researcher at the Center for Social Science Research at Mason. Dr. Johnson is also an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Northern Virginia Community College.
