Kicking off the Season of Giving at the IIR with #GivingTuesday

Giving Tuesday

Dear Friend,

#GivingTuesday, celebrated in 90 countries, kicks off the “season of giving” on Tuesday, November 28, 2017.  This year, for the first time, the Institute for Immigration Research (IIR) is proud to join this movement.  We invite you to become a “Friend of the IIR” by making a contribution to support our research.

At a time when some in the United States disparage our newest Americans, the IIR presents fact-based research to highlight the positive and ongoing contributions that immigrants make and will continue to make.  Examples of our recent work include Immigration Data on Demand (iDod) fact sheets, our report on Immigrants in Health CareKeeping Americans Healthy Through Care and Innovation, and our study on U.S. Nobel Laureates- The Impact of Immigrant Faculty Members on U.S. Universities and Research Institutes, which has been referenced by The New York Times, Forbes, and the National Foundation for American Policy.

Support for the IIR’s research on the benefits new Americans bring to the country will help us show that welcoming and integrating immigrants is just as vital to our country today as it has been in the past. Your gift will help us continue to make the case that welcoming immigrants is vital to our country’s success. You can donate online here or at https://iir.gmu.edu/about/friends/friends-of-the-iir.

While we hope you will use #GivingTuesday to make a contribution to the IIR, it is also important that you use this opportunity to let others know about the work of the IIR.  Please forward this link by email, and use the hashtags #GivingTuesday and #immigrationfacts to circulate it on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.  A phone call works as well!

Thank you for your support.  Best wishes for a joyous holiday season and a peaceful and prosperous New Year.

Sincerely,
James Witte
Director, Institute for Immigration Research
