Immigrant artists tell their stories

Announcing Making a Mark, Making Places: An IIR Podcast

The Institute for Immigration Research is proud to announce the release of our podcast, Making a Mark, Making Places. This three-part podcast tells the stories of six immigrant artists in the United States -- Ernesto Bravo, Yosief Habte, Irina Tsikurishvili, Fabiola Alvarez Yurcisin, Ximena Varela, and Matt Torney. In interviews conducted by hosts Louise Puck and Anna Danielson, the artists describe their lives prior to coming to the U.S., how they arrived here, and how their lives have changed.

Immigrant artists continue to play an important role in American life and culture, and this podcast provides a deeper understanding of the challenges and triumphs these creative, entrepreneurial, dynamic risk-takers experience along their journeys.

The three episodes of Making a Mark, Making Places are available on the IIR website or on Apple Podcasts. Enjoy them yourself, and then spread the word about the IIR podcast!
