Assistant Professor of Sociology, Dr. Amaka Okechukwu's book To Fulfill These Rights: Political Contention over Affirmative Action and Open Admissions in Public Universities (Columbia University Press, 2019) has earned two important book awards. To Fulfill These Rights was selected for the Association of Black Sociologist’s Ida B. Wells- Barnett Book Award and the Eduardo Bonilla-Silva Outstanding Book Award for the Society for the Study of Social Problems’ Division of Racial and Ethnic Minorities.
