This web survey project aimed to explore faculty, staff, and student perceptions of campus safety and the George Mason University Police Department. The survey was e-mailed to approximately 40,000 e-mail addresses. Members of the Mason community were asked to participate in a short online survey focused on general opinions of safety on campus, the Mason police, and specific police interactions. The data obtained was used by the Police-Community Advisory Council to assist Mason Police in their efforts to continually improve their police services. In addition, faculty researchers also used the data to contribute to the scholarship on policing.
