This panel explores the process of publishing community-engaged research (CER) and participatory action research (PAR). While CER and PAR techniques are becoming more widespread in a range of settings, disseminating the findings and products of these forms of research can be challenging. CER and PAR often require unique strategies to develop/frame manuscripts with reviewers’ expectations, publication requirements, and other academic norms. In addition, these approaches require researchers to think beyond the manuscript to formats that are more accessible to communities but often viewed as having less scholarly “impact,” including digital stories, websites, infographics, flyers, in-person meetings, and more. The panelists will share their experiences and offer advice for faculty, students, alumni, and community members who are interested in these forms of research.
