Online Location, https://gmu.zoom.us/s/97824065708
Dr. Joe Chapa (US Air Force) will speak to us on Friday, November 18 from 1:30 to 2:45 pm via Zoom.
His talk is titled ‘AI Ethics and AI Efficacy’.
Here is a brief abstract:
“The field of artificial intelligence (Al) ethics has grown considerably over the last decade. It has highlighted the ways in which novel machine learning techniques can result in unintended unethical outcomes. For instance, in supervised learning, an algorithm can adopt, or even exacerbate, biases that exist in the training data. However, there have been few attempts to apply the findings from the Al ethics literature to military ethics. In this paper, I take some initial steps toward applying the lessons learned from the Al ethics literature to military Al applications other than autonomous weapons systems.”
