Human Rights, Social Justice, and Constitution

Md Al Ifran Hossain Mollah is a first year doctoral student in sociology at George Mason University and a Senior Lecturer (currently on study leave) at the School of Law, Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB). He holds LL.B. (Honors) and LL.M. degrees from the University of Dhaka and an MSc in International Human Rights Law from the University of Oxford. His research interests include human rights, social justice, constitutionalism, and political sociology.

His articles and book chapters have been published by leading academic presses, including Routledge, Brill-Nijhoff, Springer, and Cambridge University Press. Mr. Mollah has served as a consultant for Article19 Bangladesh and South Asia, Plan International, Free Press Unlimited (Netherlands), and the U.S. Department of Justice on issues ranging from gender diversity and freedom of expression to criminal prosecution. He is also a licensed (non-practicing) attorney before the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. In his future research, he intends to investigate why legal systems often fail to function effectively in developing communities and what social, political, or institutional factors drive this dysfunction.
