Rights of Nature

In the Spring of 2026, Hub members developed a comprehensive research plan for 
mapping and examining the expansion of data centers across the globe. The first 
phase focuses on data centers in the NOVA area and their impact on communities, 
nature, and institutions (legal, political, municipal, etc.). The following project traces 
new and established data centers as well as local resistance forming in communities 
contesting data center projects. Hub members are particularly interested in fostering 
connections with and among community members, coalitions, and organizations to 
bolster the interdisciplinary nature of the project.
